Five tips to keep your pet healthy

You may have started 2026 by making some New Year’s resolutions to adopt healthier habits – but did your goals for this year include healthy habits for your pets too? Whether you’ve stuck to your new healthy regime or have fallen back into old habits, supporting the wellbeing of your dog or cat should always be a priority.

Small, consistent habits can make a big difference to the health and wellbeing of our canine and feline companions. As a pet pawrent, you know your own pet best, but these tips will help you support them all year round.

  1. Keep to a healthy routine

Pets get used to the schedule of the household, including mealtimes, walks and playtime. They thrive on routine, so regular feeding, exercise and rest times helps them feel secure and balanced.

It’s not always possible to stick rigidly to a timetable – that’s normal life! But where you can, try to maintain a routine because it supports improved digestion, energy levels and overall behaviour. Consistency is key, and gradual adjustments are always better than sudden changes.

  1. Focus on balanced, high-quality nutrition

Nutrition underpins every aspect of your pet’s health. A complete and balanced diet supports immune function, digestion, coat condition and long-term vitality.

Our in-house veterinary and lab teams work closely together to develop nutritionally balanced recipes that meet the needs of cats and dogs at every life stage. These recipes are carefully crafted and manufactured in our factories across Europe, combining scientific expertise with high production standards.

If you are considering a change in diet, remember to transition slowly over several days to avoid digestive upset.

  1. Support healthy weight management

Maintaining a healthy weight is essential for joint health, mobility and overall wellbeing.

Measure meals accurately, avoid overfeeding and use treats mindfully. Remember, you can usually find the recommended daily portions for pets of different sizes and ages on the pack. Opting for nutritionally complete food rather than excess snacks helps ensure your pet gets the nutrients they need without unnecessary calories.

If you have a dog, regular exercise, tailored to your pet’s age and ability, also plays an important role.

  1. Encourage mental and physical stimulation

Mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise for both cats and dogs. Interactive toys, puzzle feeders and training games can help keep your pet engaged and reduce boredom, particularly during colder months when outdoor activity may be limited.

For dogs, daily walks and varied activities help burn energy and build confidence. For cats, climbing structures, hideaways and short play sessions throughout the day can support both physical and mental health.

  1. Check in on health and wellbeing

The winter months is a good time to pay closer attention to your pet’s overall health. Monitor changes in appetite, weight, behaviour or coat condition, as these can be early signs that something is not quite right.

Regular vet check-ups are important, but everyday observation by pet owners plays a vital role too. Providing consistent, high-quality nutrition helps support your pet’s health between visits.
